Short answer: Okanagan Landing is Vernon's lakeside neighbourhood on the north arm of Okanagan Lake, about 10 minutes from downtown. It offers sandy beaches, a public boat launch at Paddlewheel Park, a yacht club, an elementary school and a mix of waterfront condos, townhomes and view homes. It's one of the most sought-after places to live in the North Okanagan.
I live in Okanagan Landing, and it's the neighbourhood I help buyers with most. Here's what you should know before you start looking.
Where is Okanagan Landing?
Okanagan Landing sits on the west side of Vernon, where Okanagan Landing Road runs along the north end of Okanagan Lake. It started as a historic steamship landing, and today it combines lake life with quick access to Vernon's shopping and services. Kelowna International Airport is about 40 minutes away, and SilverStar Mountain Resort is roughly 30 to 40 minutes.
Lake life: beaches, parks and boating
Paddlewheel Park (7815 Okanagan Landing Road) is the neighbourhood's main gathering spot, with:
- A sandy beach and grassy play area
- A public boat launch (daily and seasonal passes are sold by the City of Vernon)
- Tennis, basketball and beach volleyball courts
- A playground, picnic shelters and washrooms
The Vernon Yacht Club is also in the Landing, and several condo complexes, including The Strand, have their own private marinas for owners.
Homes in Okanagan Landing
You'll find a wide range of housing:
- Waterfront condos and townhomes such as The Strand Lakeside Resort, with beaches, pools and private moorage
- Lakeview homes on the hillsides above the lake
- Single-family homes on quieter residential streets, many with lake views
Waterfront condos are popular with retirees, part-time residents and buyers who want lake access without the upkeep of a lakefront house. Read my complete guide to buying a waterfront condo in Vernon.
Schools and everyday living
Okanagan Landing Elementary serves the neighbourhood, and middle and secondary schools are a short drive away in Vernon. Groceries, restaurants, medical services and big-box shopping are about 10 minutes away.
Who Okanagan Landing suits

- Families who want a beach, a park and a school in the same neighbourhood
